Steve Allison Holloway

October 19, 1957 — March 31, 2015

Steve A. Holloway, age 57 of Rome passed away on March 31, 2015. Steve was born in Etowah County, Alabama on Oct. 19, 1957. He was a former Trustee at Shorter Avenue Baptist Church where he had been a lifelong member. He also was an AWANA Cubbie leader with the church. Steve also was a member of the choir at the church. He was a graduate of Coosa High School. He worked for Trend Mills and then finally worked for International Paper for many years.

Steve was a gentle, kind, and loving man who loved children. He possessed a quick witted personality and during trying times, he could always put those around him at ease with his wit and humor. Steve had a simple zeal for life and was gifted with the ability to see the world through the eyes of child; this trait was comforting and reassuring to small children and endured children to him.

Steve loved the Lord his God and he loved being outdoors among the splendor and beauty of God's heavenly and earthly creations. Some of his happiest times were spent on long car rides and extended vacations with his wife, as the couple traveled the winding highways of the western United States, taking in the majesty of the western skies, the great Rocky Mountain's, and the Tetons. Steve shared his father's passion for Alabama Crimson Tide football, and the two avid sports fans often enjoyed cheering the Crimson Tide onto victory together.

Mr. Holloway was preceded in death by his parents Gwen and Raymond Holloway, sister, Susan Holloway Carney.

Survivors are his wife whom he married on June 11, 1983 Lori Holloway; sister, Carol (Rex) Carter and brother, Mark E. (Lynn) Holloway.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral will be on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at Shorter Avenue Baptist Church where he will lie in state for one hour prior with burial to follow after the service at Morning View Cemetery.
