Tommie Jo Chapman

Tommie Jo Chapman, age 49, of the Bells Ferry Road, NE, Rome, Ga. passed away on Sunday afternoon, November 6th, 2011 at the residence.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Chapman was born on January 13th, 1962, the daughter of JoAnn Sumner Cummings Mills and the late Joe Thomas Cummings. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Chapman was a 1980 graduate of Model High School and attended Floyd College. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was an advocate for Animal Rights. Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Cummings and by her father, Joe Thomas Cummings in 1961.

Survivors include her husband, Glen T. Chapman to whom she was married on April 13th, 1985; mother and step-father, JoAnn and Alex Mills of Rome; 3 brothers, Alex Mills, Jr. of Concord, N.C., Terry Mills of Rome and Gary Mills of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 1 sister, Kay Gilbert of Rome; other family members include Gene and Kay Cummings of Meansville, GA. and Edith Geiger.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chapman will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon, November 9th, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Jody Brock officiating. Interment will follow the family lot in Oakland Cemetery.

The following family members will serve as active pallbearers, Terry Mills, Gary Mills and Alex Mills, Jr., Fred Chapman, Riley and Clay Carpenter.

Mrs. Chapman will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) afternoon from 2 until 3:30 p.m.
