Vera Weems

Vera Williamson Weems, age 87, of #12 Chateau Drive, Rome, a former long time resident of the Old Cedartown Road, Lindale, died late Thursday afternoon, May 31st, 2007 at Winthrop Manor of Rome.
A native of Dawson, Alabama, Mrs. Weems was born on September 24th, 1919, the daughter of the late Perry and Mindie Lou Fraser Williamson. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. For a period of time Mrs. Weems was associated with West Point Pepperell Mills, loved gardening and prior to retiring she was associated with J. C. Penney of Rome. Mrs. Weems was preceded in death by a brother, George Lee Williamson in 1990. Mrs. Weems was married on November 30th, 1946 to Jack Weems who preceded her in death on January 16th, 2004.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Cal Clevenger of Pensacola, Fla.; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Donna Weems of Lindale; 4 grandchildren,
Carter Weems, Lindsey Clevenger Craig and her husband, Matt, Cody and Cheyenne Clevenger, 1 great-grandson, Max Craig, 4 sisters, Maxine Timmons of Fyffe, Ala., Daisy Bryant of Blanc, Mich., Mary Will Powers of Cleveland, Tenn. and Shelby Jean Gilley of Rossville, GA. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Weems will be held on Tuesday afternoon, June 5th, 2007 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Stephens and Rev. Asa Manghan officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Carter Weems, Cody and Cheyenne Clevenger and Matt Craig.
Mrs. Weems will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 until 2 o'clock.
