William Thomas Burnett

William Thomas "Tommy" Burnett, age 67 of #1116 Lovell Road, SE, Rome, died Saturday evening, January 10th, 2009 at his residence.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Burnett was born on September 15th, 1941, the son of the late Albert E. and Lexie Odessa Ayers Burnett. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Burnett was a member of New Hope Chapel Baptist Church, a Mason and a member of the Silver Creek Saddle Club. Prior to his retirement in 1993, Mr. Burnett was associated with the IBEW Local 613 in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by a sister, Angie Payne and a brother, Larry Burnett.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Pilgrim Burnett to whom he was married on March 27th, 1960, 2 sons, Thomas David Burnett of Rome and Joey Morton of Cedartown, GA.; 1 grandson, Tom Burnett of Rome; daughter-in-law and her husband, Jan and Ed Churchill of Rome; special niece, Donna Payne. Other nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for William Thomas "Tommy" Burnett will be held on Tuesday morning, January 13th, 2009 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Drew Brown officiating and Mr. Burnett's grandson, Tom Burnett delivering the eulogy.
Mr. Burnett will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Larry Joe Ashley, Calvin Dale Smith, Dale Ashley, Jackie Payne, Wayne Smith and Doug Burnett.
