Ann Erwin Stanley

Ann Erwin Stanley, affectionately known to most as “Maw Maw,” passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at the age of 83.

Ann was born on August 14, 1941, to the late Mary Elizabeth “Sue” and Edward Theodore “Bud” Erwin of Rome, Georgia. She married the love of her life, LeeRoy Stanley on April 20, 1958. Their love story led to a lifetime of grand adventures, including six children, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Ann was a cherished mother and grandmother, known for her hilarious honesty, generous spirit, and remarkable talent for making just about anything taste good.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, LeeRoy Stanley; her sons, Keith Stanley and Kevin Stanley; her daughter, Christy Heard; and her brother, Jimmy Erwin.

She is survived by her brother Ronnie (Anita); her children: Debbie DiPrima (Danny), Leeann Davis, and Adam Stanley; her grandchildren: Brandy Dupree (Harrison), Mekashi Shepard (Brian), Ryan DiPrima (Elizabeth), Brandon Stanley (Angela), Noah Heard, Ansley Reid (William), Dan DiPrima (Hannah), Stephanie Choate (Kevin) and Jameson; her great-grandchildren: Patrick, Perry, Taylor (Kayla), Jada, Ethan, Chase, Brennex, Iris, Talon, and Lindsey (Ben); and one great-great-grandchild, Bentley.

Ann was a lover of country music, westerns, and the beach. She was an avid reader who often shared her love of books with others. She spent over 50 years as a cook and baker, earning a reputation for her signature Cathead biscuits served at Evans Deli and later at her family’s restaurant, Stanley’s. The home she and LeeRoy made was a welcoming gathering place for all, filled with laughter, love, and usually stacked with cakes and pies.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Salmon Funeral Home, located at 2516 New Calhoun Hwy NE, Rome, GA 30161. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Public Animal Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.) in Rome, GA.
