Archie Lamar "Lester" Waits passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 67. He was born on February 9, 1959 in Rome, Georgia to Robert and Pauline Waits. Archie worked as a mechanic for a number of years for Ellison Trucking.

Archie is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Waits and Pauline Pollard Waits.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Waits; two sons, John Waits and Timothy Lamar Waits; six grandchildren, Jeremiah Helms, Jessica Helms, Austin Helms, Brian Helms, Alexis Waits, Skylar Waits; two great-grandchildren, Dayshon Johnson and Leia Johnson; brothers, Joe Waits, Charles Waits; sisters, Angela Thomas, Betty Quinn; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation period to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Archie will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 starting at 6:00 PM at Pisgah Baptist Church and ending at 8:00 PM.
