Barbara Ann Jackson Taylor, age 81, transitioned peacefully after an extended illness on May 27, 2017.
Mrs. Taylor was born March 8, 1936, in Guntersville, AL, daughter of Tom W. Jackson and Katie M. Jackson Guice. Mrs. Taylor grew up in Guntersville and moved to Calhoun, GA, with her mother in 1952. At the time of her marriage to Henry Grady Taylor, Jr., October 24, 1954, she moved to Rome and Floyd County Georgia where she resided until 2004. Mrs. Taylor retired from Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital March 31, 1998.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Grady Taylor Jr., November 7, 1999, her son Dr. Steven Branton Taylor, April 11, 2010, her father, Mr. Tom W. Jackson, her mother Katie M. Jackson Guice, her step father Herschel Odell Guice.
She is survived by a daughter, Ms. Traci C. Taylor, Rome; her loving companion of 13 years Mr. Eddie Gordon, Albertville, AL; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Beth Coker, (Hoyt), Rome; two granddaughters, Mrs. Amy Burnett (Drew) currently residing in Uganda, and Ms. Amanda Money (Brandon), Marietta, GA; great-grandson, Malachi Burnett. Two sisters survive: Mrs. Vanessa Guice Lindsay, Armuchee, GA, and Mrs. Belinda Guice Whorton, Cartersville, GA. One brother and sister-in-law: Mr. Kenneth Guice and Mrs. Robin Guice, Rome. Special nieces and nephews also survive: Kendyl Guice Clark (Josh), Cooper Clark, Grant Guice, Seth Lindsay, Nicholas Whorton (Madison) and Jeffrey Whorton.
Receiving of friends will be on Tuesday May 30th from 11am to 1pm at Salmon Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2516 New Calhoun Hwy in Rome. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with the Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at East View Cemetery. At other hours, the family may be reached at the home of Kenneth Guice, 6067 Big Texas Valley Rd Rome Georgia
Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 12:00 noon and include Nick Whorton, Jeff Whorton, Grant Guice, Drew Burnett, Josh Clark and Brandon Addison.
Flowers will be accepted gratefully or contributions can be made to Scottish Rite Hospital or St. Jude's Hospital.
