Bettie Lois Ristow (nee Stanfield), age 94, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 24, 2021, in an assisted living facility in Allen, TX.
Bettie was born on July 23, 1926, outside of Waverly, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years Bob, her mother, Luttie Fry Stanfield, father, Charlie Stanfield, brothers, Charles Freeman and W.T. Stanfield, sisters Margaret Richardson, Rebecca Owen, Bee Higgins, and Pat Duke.
Bettie is survived by her daughter, Judy Farrar of Flower Mound, TX; sons and daughter in laws, Charles (Buddy) and Christine Ristow of Plano, TX, and Robert (Robin) and June Ristow of Alpharetta, GA; brother, John Stanfield of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Farrar, Christopher and Nicholas Ristow and Katrina and Prince Ristow. Seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Bettie and Bob were long-time members of the West Rome Church of Christ, and later the Oak Hill Church of Christ. Bettie was very active in the Rome community where she resided for 64 years. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Floyd Medical Center for many years. She was a member of the Lavender View Garden Club, the Garden Lakes Homemakers Club and the “Lunch Bunch”. She was easily recognized around the “big” lake where she took her twice daily two-mile walk. She loved passing time, with a cup of coffee in hand, looking out at the lake in the backyard.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow.
