Mrs. Betty Jo Davis, age 93, of Shannon passed away on January 30, 2026, in Rome, Georgia, at a local healthcare facility, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 7, 1932, in Canton, Georgia, she leaves behind a legacy filled with kindness, humor, and an unwavering dedication to her community and family.
Throughout her life, Betty held several successful careers that showcased her entrepreneurial spirit and her deep commitment to others. She was the proud owner of Betty's Grill in Shannon, where she served delicious food and created a welcoming space for patrons, establishing a beloved community hub. Her passion for antiques led her to own an antique store in Shannon, a venture where she delighted in sharing her collection with others. Additionally, Betty worked as a sitter, providing compassionate care to those who were homebound, building cherished relationships with those she assisted.
Betty was a person who made everyone feel at ease with her kind and welcoming demeanor. She also had a wonderful sense of humor. Her ability to connect with people was evident in her many years as a member of the Order of Eastern Star - Etowah Chapter 30, where she dedicated over fifty years to assisting others and being actively involved in the community. Her hobbies included canning vegetables from her garden, a testament to her love for homegrown produce and self-sufficiency. She took immense pride in nurturing her garden, sharing her vegetables with family and friends. Mrs. Davis was a member of Shannon First Baptist Church and later attended Shannon United Methodist Church, currently known as Shannon Community Church before her health began deteriorating.
Betty is survived by her sons, Michael Davis of Shannon, GA, Barry Davis and his wife Sherri of Rome, GA; her daughter, Debra Dee McDaniel and Special Friend, Leon Taylor-Davis of Cartersville, GA; her grandchildren: Michael "Joe" Davis, Jr. (LeShawne), Matthew Davis, Samantha Robinson (Jeremy), Hunter Robert McDaniel, Luke and Kyle Davis; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; daughter-in-law, Debbie Minshew Davis of Rome; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Davis, they were married on August 17, 1948; a son, Garry Luke Davis; her parents, Mark Luke Ware and Dollie Josephine Herring Ware; her brother, Jack Ware; and her sister, Ruth Kilby.
Funeral Services to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Betty Jo Davis will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home. Following the funeral service, Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Dr. Ken Freshour will be officiating the service. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Matt, Hunter, Joe, Jeremy, Cabe and Parker.
A visitation for Mrs. Davis will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the service begins at 2:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home.
