Billy Bryce Campbell, age 79, of Rome passed away early Friday morning, June 29, 2012, at a Rome hospital following a brief illness.

Billy was born in Walker County, AL, on December 9, 1932, the son of the late Will Alexander Campbell and the late Ella Fowler Campbell. He was a graduate of Carbon Hill, Alabama, High School and had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since 1969, moving here from Knoxville, TN. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Rome. Billy retired from Sherwin Williams Paint Company following 25 years of service. He then was owner and operator of Rome Florist, Inc., from 1976 until retirement in 1999. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by five brothers; Elzo, Doyle Edward, Clarence William, James Odus and Walter Clyde Campbell; and three sisters; Vilie Louceil Campbell, Verna May Campbell and Iva Nell Campbell.

Billy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lea and Mitch Ryall, a son and daughter-in-law, William and Anna Campbell, and their mother, Dale Campbell, all of Rome; five grandchildren, Marie Campbell of Nashville, TN, Victoria (Nathan) Turk of Flowery Branch, GA, Andrew Campbell, Joseph Ryall and William Ryall, all of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Private graveside and interment services for Billy Bryce Campbell will be held on Monday morning, July 2, 2012 at 10 o'clock from the graveside of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Rev. Robert M. Skelton and Rev. Jason Willis officiating.

The family will receive friends at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel this (Sunday) afternoon, July 1, 2012 from 2 until 5 o'clock. At other hours they will be home of the son and daughter-in-law, William and Anna Campbell, 110 Windwood Way, Rome, the Garden Lakes community.
