Bobbie Kenneth McKenzie, II, age 48, of Orlando, Florida, and a former Roman, died suddenly on February 7, 2012, at his residence in Orlando following an apparent heart attack.

A native of Rome, Bobbie was born on October 22, 1963, the son of Rome and Floyd County retired Fire Chief, Bobbie K. and Lynda O. McKenzie of Rome. He had been a resident of Orlando since 2004, moving there from Cedartown, GA. Bobbie was a 1981 graduate of Coosa High School, a 2003 graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University receiving his Bachelors Degree in Information Technology. Bobbie was a 2009 graduate of Nova Southeastern University where he received a Master of Science in Curriculum. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at Calvary Baptist Church in Rome on April 25, 1975 and was baptized on May 4, 1975, by Rev. Charlie Edens. Bobbie became a teacher at Kissimmee, FL Middle School where he taught computer application and web design since 2005. Bobbie's computer class competed February 11, 2012 at Disney World and won the Region Website Completion. The Students will be going to Chicago for the National Completion. Bobbie also served as a coach, yearbook advisor, grade level chair for the 8th grade and was a member of the Business Professionals of America. While a resident of Rome, Bobbie was associated with the Rome Water Department.

Bobbie is survived by his wife, Gayle Hamrick McKenzie of Orlando; one daughter, Skye McKenzie; two sons, Jeremy Hindman (Heather) of Cedartown, GA, Corey Hindman (Corinne) of Carrolton, GA; his father and mother, Bobbie Kenneth and Lynda Olivia McKenzie of Rome; one brother and his wife, Bo and Brandy McKenzie of Rome; a nephew, Mason McKenzie of Rome; his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hulan Hamrick of Tallapoosa, GA. and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial celebration of the life of Bobbie Kenneth McKenzie, II, will be celebrated at Calvary Baptist Church in Rome on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at 2 o'clock with Dr. Frank Wood and Dr. Gary Graves officiating. At other hours the family will be at the home of his parents, 15 Ridge Drive, Rome, GA 30165.

The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church in Rome, GA, on Sunday afternoon following the memorial service.
