Brenda "Gail" Koger, age 69, of Calhoun, GA, and formerly of Rome, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her residence.
Gail was born in Floyd County on December 26, 1944, the daughter of the late Hubert Alonzo Barton and Lois Lucille Ledford Barton. She was a graduate of Armuchee High School and was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Gail was a faithful member of the New Echota United Methodist Church. She was an avid cook who loved to bake cakes and pies, especially when she could give them to others. In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by two sisters.
Gail is survived by her husband, Millard Koger, to whom she was married on April 16, 1967; one daughter, Leigh Bishop of Rome; one son, Doug Koger of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one granddaughter, Kelsey Bishop; one sister, Patsy (Fred) Johnson of Adairsville, GA; one brother, Rufus Barton of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service to honor the life of Brenda Gail Koger will be held this (Friday) evening, May 2, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's funeral Home with Rev. Ross Tibbs, Rev. Dan Hogan and Rev. Mark Atwood officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour.
