Buna Ester Evans

Mrs. Buna Crowder Evans, age 93, of Shannon, passed away early Thursday morning, January 13th, 2011 in Rome.

A native of Bartow County, Georgia, Mrs. Evans was born on September 8th, 1917, the daughter of the late Lewis Elbert Crowder and the late Mary Dillard Chatman Crowder. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shannon United Methodist Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Shannon where she was a member of the Ruth Class. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by a sister, Florine Rice and by 3 brothers, Thurman, Buford and Norman Crowder. Mrs. Evans was married on May 17th, 1941 to James Wesley "J.W." Evans who preceded her in death on November 23rd, 2005.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Melvin Phillips of Shannon; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sheila Evans of Adairsville; 6 grandchildren, Gina Byars and her husband Louis, Stephen Phillips and his wife, Angel, Stephanie Bruce and her husband Ken, Sonya Noble and her husband, Billy, Alicia Brown and her husband Mike, and Jamey Evans; 7 great-grandchildren, Rebekah Nichols and her husband, Matt, Leah Couch and her husband, Jay, Taylor, Bryson and Grayson Phillips, Will and Jake Noble, a sister-in-law, Geneva Crowder of Rome; a special friend, Margaret Kirby of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Buna Crowder Evans will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 16th, 2011 at 3 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Hearne officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Morning View Cemetery.

Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Evans will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 3 o'clock.
