Charles Lee Silvey

Charles L. "Chuck" Silvey, age 62 of #2625 Kingston Highway, NE, Rome, died Tuesday morning, September 18th, 2007 at a local hospital.
A native of Akron, Ohio, Chuck was born on March 5th, 1945, the son of the late Clarence L. and Rita Yvonne Wilcox Silvey. He has been a resident of Rome since 1978 moving here from Akron, Ohio and was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Army. Chuck attended North High School in Akron, Ohio and attended the Mizpah United Methodist Church. He was an official member of NASCAR, an avid motorcycle rider and bowler and loved his family and grandchildren. At the time of his death Chuck was Director of Transportation for Motor Sports Authentics in Concord, N.C. He was a member of Adams-Coker-Covington-Waters American Legion Post #52 and was preceded in death by a brother John Silvey.
Survivors include his wife, Chiquita Gregory Freeman Silvey to whom he was married on June 9th, 1984, 2 daughters, Jennifer (David) Swanson of Silver Creek, Ga. and Mary Ann Freeman Westmoreland of Rome; 2 sons, Scott (Leah) Silvey of Silver Creek, Ga. and Randy Freeman of Rome; 5 grandchildren, Merritt Birdsong, Caleb Freeman, and Bogan , Samantha and Yasmin Silvey, 5 sisters, Nancy, Ida, Terry, Sharon and Betty, 1 brother, Steve Silvey of Rome; Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Charles L. "Chuck" Silvey will be held on Friday afternoon, September 21st, 2007, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Canuel officiating and Chris Williams delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.
The following will serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home on Friday afternoon at 1:30, William Hibberts, Steve Minshew, Michael Harris, Buck Durrance, Van Westmoreland, Mark and Bud Self and Dudley Kerr.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mizpah United Methodist Church, 4053 Kingston Highway, NE, Kingston, Georgia 30145.
Chuck will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Thursday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
