Clara Ann Mattingly, age 89, passed away on April 14, 2026, in Rome, Georgia, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Mattingly was born on April 3, 1937, in Murray, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Hugh Fisher Wilson and the late Isel Hoyt Orr Wilson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mattingly was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Wayne Collins Mattingly and her brother Hugh Eddie Wilson.

Mrs. Mattingly retired from the FBI in Washington, DC. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Rome, GA and served as a volunteer for Floyd Medical Center for many years.

She is survived by her children: Molly Yancey (Dee) and Melissa Breen, both of Rome, Georgia, and Mitchell Mattingly of Columbia, South Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Harley Yancey (Anna Grace), Jack Yancey (Sara), Mary Morgan Yancey, Charlie Breen (Jade), Joseph Breen and Will Breen and four great-grandchildren: Harley, Cooper, Fisher, and Frances Yancey.

In accordance with Mrs. Mattingly's wishes, no local services will be held. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian cemetery in Clay, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church Rome in Mrs. Mattingly's memory.
