David J. Stansell

David J. Stansell, age 60 of Rome, GA passed away on February 28, 2024. He was born on August 16, 1963 in Rome, GA. He was a cherished son of Palmer Allen Stansell and Sandra Faye Helms Bell. 

David graduated from West Rome High School in 1981. He was known for his passion for fishing and the great outdoors, he spent many joyful hours indulging in these hobbies. David was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands, he found fulfillment in creating and building. His spiritual home was found at God's Word & Truth Ministries Church, where he not only attended but also served as an usher with love and dedication.

David is survived by his sister, Lori Holloway of Rome, GA. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Teresa Terry; nephew, Shawn Stansell; niece, Christie Stansell; great nieces, Abigail Avery and Isabelle Ward; great-great nephew, Emmett Avery; numerous cousins, his second family, the Fife's, and a host of other friends whose lives he touched profoundly. David was preceded in death by his dear parents and a brother, Christopher Allen Stansell.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 4 at 2:00 PM in the Salmon Funeral Home Chapel, 2516 New Calhoun Highway NE, Rome, GA 30161 with Bishop Irvin Bryant, Elder Cal Brookins,  Elder Cecil Render, and Rev Jeremy Albright officiating. Interment will follow in the Beech Creek Church Cemetery. Alan Brinson, Mark Holloway, Bobby Davis, Tony Swafford, Byron Swinford, and Tim Shell will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. 

David's presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him. May his adventurous spirit and kind heart remain eternally alive in our memories.
