Mr. David Wayne Patterson, age 76, of Rome, GA, formerly of Woodstock, GA, passed away on Monday morning, December 25, 2017.
David was born on June 22, 1941, in Rome, son of the late Wayne C. and Marie Chapman Patterson. He had lived the greater part of his life in Woodstock, moving back to Rome just over 12 years ago. He was an elder with Northside Church of Christ for many years and attended Oak Hill Church of Christ since moving back to Rome. David graduated from Emory University with a Bachelors degree and received his Law degree from Woodrow Wilson School of Law. He was associated with the Internal Revenue Service for many years prior to retirement. David was an Eagle scout and continued his love of youth by volunteering with various Boy Scout troops and with Camp Sidney Dew. He was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors.
David is survived by the love of his life, Rachel Bramlett Patterson, whom he married on June 27, 1964; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angeline and Kenneth Graves of Augusta, GA, and Amanda and Darrell Edwards, of Dalton, GA; five grandchildren, Nolen Graves, Glenn Graves, Molly Graves, Rachel Edwards and Reagan Edwards; one sister, Rebecca Patterson; one brother, Phillip Patterson.
Funeral services for David Wayne Patterson will be held on Thursday morning, December 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with Minister Michael Ferris officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta, GA, at 3:00 p.m.
David will remain at Salmon Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
