Eleanor Imogene Howard

October 8, 1932 — March 28, 2012

Eleanor Whitworth Howard, age 79, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday night, March 28th, 2012 at Golden Living Center of Rome.

A native of Toccoa, Georgia, Mrs. Howard was born on October 8th, 1932 the daughter of the late Adolphus G. Whitworth and the late Myrtie Irene Garner Whitworth. She had been a resident of Rome since 1975 moving here from Doraville, GA. and attended Shorter College of Rome. Mrs. Howard was a member of the First Christian Church of Rome and for many years served as secretary at Riverside Baptist Church of Rome. For a period of time Mrs. Howard was active with the Rome Little Theater and was founder of the Georgia Chapter, C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors). Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by a son, Floyd County Police Officer, Greg Howard in 1994. She was married on March 5th, 1954 to George Terrell Howard who preceded her in death on February 9th, 2012.

Survivors include a granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Danny Waits of Cave Spring, GA; two great-grandchildren, Augusta and Abby Cate Waits; a daughter-in-law, Sybil Howard of Cave Spring. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Howard will be held this (Friday) afternoon, March 30th, 2012, at 1 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Horace Stewart officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens

The family will receive friends today, March 30th, 2012 at the funeral home from 11 am until 1 o'clock.
