Elizabeth Holden Cameron Chumley, age 84, of Leafmore Road, Rome, died Friday morning, August 3rd, 2007, at Golden Living Center of Rome.
A native of Pittsfield, Mass., Mrs. Chumley was born on August 6th, 1922, the daughter of the late Wallace H. and Mabel Roberts Holden. Mrs. Chumley became a resident of Rome in 1953 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Rome. For a period time, Mrs. Chumley served as department manager of Kessler's Department Store of Rome. She was married on November 28th, 1942 to Richard "Dick" Cameron who preceded her in death in 1969. Mrs. Chumley was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Cameron in 1963. Mrs. Chumley resided in Inglewood, Florida from 1972 until she returned to Rome in 2001. In April of 1970 Elizabeth Holden Cameron Chumley was married to Billy Dink Chumley who preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Earlene Cameron of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Kristi Cameron and her husband, David of Atlanta and Kerri Losier of Littleton, Colo.; 3 great-grandchildren, Will and Eli Dorn and Braeden Loiser, a sister, Marion Burnett of Rome. Special nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Elizabeth Holden Cameron Chumley will be held on Monday afternoon, August 6th, 2007, at 1 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Father James A. Miceli officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Glen Popham, David Dorn, Lee and Jake Carter, Art D'Ambrosio and Steve Kerce.
Mrs. Chumley will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. The family will be at the home of the son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Earlene Cameron, at #3 Bennington Drive, West Rome.
