Mr. Franklin 'Merritt' Baggett, age 60, of Rome, GA, passed away on July 19, 2024 at his residence. He was born on February 7, 1964, in Rome to the late C.M. 'Doc' Baggett and Mable Cordle Baggett.
Merritt's passion for mechanics was evident throughout his career where he excelled as a Transmission Specialist. His work ethic and expertise left a mark in the hearts of those who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Franklin was a man who cherished his family above all else. He found true joy in spending quality time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. In his leisure time, Merritt enjoyed watching racing events and being an amateur radio operator. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace in activities like fishing and boating. These hobbies allowed him to connect with nature and unwind from the demands of everyday life. Merritt was a Christian of Baptist Faith. His belief provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life's journey.
Merritt is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda Shelstead Baggett of Rome; sons, Anthony Paul Baggett, Thomas Keith Baggett and wife Brittany; daughter, April Nicole Rampley and husband Jeremy; grandchildren: Adrian, Raven, Bobby, Sarah, Thomas, Frank, Allie, Kelly, and Lucas; great-grandchildren: Kainen, Brixton, Baylor, Athena, Easton. Additionally, several other family members and friends mourn the loss of his kind soul. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.M. 'Doc' Baggett and Mable Cordle Baggett as well as his son, Chris Baggett.
Funeral services for Mr. Merritt will be Monday, July 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Byars officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Mr. Merritt’s family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
