Franklin Eugene Cordle, known affectionately as 'Geno,' passed away on January 23, 2026, in his hometown of Rome, Georgia, surrounded by family. Born on November 19, 1971, in Rome, Geno devoted his life to his family and his passion for working with his hands.
Throughout his professional career, Geno made significant contributions to the community he served, Rome and Floyd County. Most recently, he was employed by the City of Rome, working in the Sanitation Department where he expertly drove a truck. Prior to this role, he developed his mechanical skills at Binkley's Auto Care, demonstrating a deep-rooted love for all things automotive. His experience also included many years of driving a wrecker, allowing him to assist those in need during their times of difficulty.
In addition to his work, Geno was an avid lover of the outdoors, where he found joy in nurturing his surroundings and engaging in hobbies related to machinery. He had a particular fondness for working on anything with an engine and enjoyed activities such as watching NASCAR, visiting dirt tracks and cutting grass.
Geno leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory and hold onto the values he instilled in them. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Cordle of Rome, GA; son, Josh (Corrine) Jackson; daughter, Jerri Carter; his wife’s parents, Darrell and Tina McBurnett; brother, Wayne (Laura) Dean; sister, Stacey (Shane) Wright; sister-in-law, Tesa Lucas, and Sky Highfield; grandsons, Blake and Emerson Jackson; a special great niece, Aurora Alice Wright who affectionately called Geno, “Uncle Bubba”. He is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.
Geno was preceded in death by his parents, Larry (L.C.) Cordle and Annie Marshall Cordle; as well as Franklin Johnson; brothers, Brian Cordle; Mike 'Cold Tater' Dean; and brother-in-law Jerry McBurnett.
Funeral Services to honor and celebrate the life of Geno will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 3:30 PM in The Salmon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Barry McCullough officiating. Mr. Geno will be laid to rest at his final resting place following the funeral service at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Shane Wright, Josh Jackson, Doug Chapman, Ricky Bray, Alan Binkley, Tim Williams, Melvin Ellison and Carl Lively. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Dean, Charlie Ellison, Blake Jackson, Emerson Jackson, Robert Bloodworth, Ethan Snow, Keith Snow and Aurora Wright.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday evening, January 28, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home. Franklin Eugene Cordle will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue through the love and memories shared by his family and friends.
