Fred William Miller

August 5, 1931 — January 16, 2015

Fred William Miller, age 83 of Rome passed away on Jan. 16, 2015. Fred was born on August 5, 1931 the son of the late William Thomas Miller and the late Lillie Bell Mayo Miller and graduated from Cave Spring High School . He retired from Western Electric after working from 1951-1984; also worked at Atlanta Communications from 1984-1994; and had a cattle farm on Alabama Highway for over 20 years. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the US Marine Corps from 1952-1955 which was during the Korean War. He was a member of Stateline Baptist Church and Fairview Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at both. Fred was a Lifetime member of the Marine Corps League of Rome. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Era Lee Agan, Rovine Dunivant, Shirley Burns; two brothers, Thomas G. Miller and Jack W. Miller.

Mr. Miller is survived by his two daughters, Tami (Felix) Mendez, Jill Lennon; six grandchildren, Troy (Jessica Newton) Mendez, Todd (Grace Hankins) Mendez, Lindsay Salzberg, Tate Mendez, Carli Salzberg, Jeremy Salzberg; sister, Nonnie B. Agan.

There will be a Graveside service on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The pallbearers will be three grandsons Jeremy Salzberg, Troy Mendez, Todd Mendez, son-in-law Felix Mendez, nephew Kenneth Agan, and great-nephew Bob Agan who is standing in for grandson, Tate Mendez who is studying aboard in the Czech Republic. Pastor Bob Agan will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
