IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Lamar
Stewart, Sr.
February 15, 1948 – February 7, 2026
Mr. Gary Lamar Stewart, Sr. age 77, of Centre, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, in Rome, Georgia.
Gary was born on February 15, 1948 in Monroe, Georgia to his parents: Buck and Ruth Stewart. For many years, Gary dedicated himself to his career at Pike Electric, where he was known for his hard work and commitment. When he wasn't working Gary filled his time with a variety of interests that brought him joy. He found solace and happiness by the lake, taking every opportunity he could to go fishing. Gary was not only an avid fisherman but also a craftsman at heart; he loved refurbishing and tinkering on anything he could save, often bringing new life to old objects. His enthusiasm for life extended to his yard, where he found great satisfaction in working outdoors and refused to slow down, embracing each day with vigor.
Gary shared a loving partnership of 47 years with his devoted wife, Martha Thomas Stewart of Centre, Alabama. Together, they built a family that reflects their spirit and values. Alongside his wife, he is survived by his loving sons, Gary (Heather) Stewart, Jr. of Villa Rica, Georgia; William (Elizabeth) Stewart of Cedartown, Georgia; and Blake (Becca) Stewart of Moody, Alabama, nine cherished grandchildren: Justin, Jake, Sammie, Chloe, Addyson, Ava, Grace, Brooklyn, and Logan Stewart, each of whom holds a special place in their hearts for the man who loved them dearly. Gary is also survived by his brother, Billy Stewart of Monroe, Georgia, and his sister, Sherri Stewart, who continue to carry the memories of their beloved sibling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Ruth Callaway Stewart, who shaped the man he became.
In keeping with Mr. Stewart's wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services are being planned at this time.
As we remember Gary Lamar Stewart, we celebrate a life dedicated to family, hard work, and a love for the simple joys of life. His warm spirit and steadfast presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Salmon Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve and care for the family of Mr. Gary Lamar Stewart.
