Gerald Don England

Gerald Don "Gerry" England, age 75, of #28 Oak Street N.E., Rome, (Celanese Community) died Sunday evening, June 20th, 2010 at a local hospital.

A native of Kennett, MO., Mr. England was born on July 7th, 1934, the son of the late Frank and Ruby Katherine Waller England. He had been a residence of Rome for several years and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. Mr. England was a General Baptist and was a member of the Rome Elks Club and Adams-Coker-Covington-Waters American Legion Post #52 of Rome. He was a radio announcer and electrician having been associated with WLAQ, WIYN and WRGA Radio Stations of Rome. Mr. England was former owner and operator of ComPlus Imaging of Rome. Mr. England was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Kathleen Wooden in 1999, a great-grandson and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Ault England to whom he was married on September 11th, 1965; 2 daughters, Kimberly Kay Tyler of Moorseville, N.C. and Robin Lyn McMinn of Santa Cruz, Calif.; 3 sons, Lundon Lee England of Genesee, Mich., Frank Jerry England of Spartanburg, S.C. and Todd England of Rome; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren also survive as do 2 sisters, Wanda Dean of Prescott Valley, Arz. and Carmen Hall of Grand Blanc, Mich.

The family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. At other hours they will be at the residence.
