Dunn, Sr.
Sep 28, 1941 — Sep 16, 2026
Rome, Georgia
Gerald Wayne Dunn, Sr. affectionately known throughout Rome as “Termite,” passed away on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 28, 1941, in Floyd County. Remembered as an exceptionally good and supportive man, Gerald leaves behind a life marked by steady work, devotion to Jesus, family and care for those around him.
Gerald served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of service that remained an important part of his life. In his working years, he was employed by General Electric for 30 years, serving in the wood shop, crane operation, shipping and in other areas throughout the plant. Before that, he worked for Fox Manufacturing Company, a furniture manufacturer. His career reflected his reliability, versatility and strong work ethic.
One of the defining blessings of Gerald’s life began in 1963, when he met Diana after being introduced through her father and brother. Their life together became the center of a family that continued to grow through the years.
Gerald is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Dunn; his children, Wayne (Tina) Dunn, Jr. of Rome, Elisa Bridges of Rome and Debbie (Phillip) Roberson of Cedar Bluff, AL; his grandchildren, Rena Dunn, Brittany (John) Rice, Timothy (Sarah) Bridges, Jonathan (Jessi) Bridges, Katelyn Roberson (BJ Garrett), Breanna Roberson, Pete Roberson; great grandchildren: Reagan, Jamie, Colton, Sarah, Pierce and Aiden, who were part of the family circle he cherished so much. His family will remember him with gratitude for his steady presence, his support, and the care he gave so freely. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Dunn, Sr. and Lucille Reynolds Dunn, and by his siblings Fred Dunn, Jr., Donald Dunn, Bobby Dunn, Dorothy Maynard, and Jack Dunn.
A graveside service will be held on to celebrate his life on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Justin Silver, Phillip Roberson and Terry Kiser officiating and musical selections by Mr. Dunn himself. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Gerald Dunn’s memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him. His life was one of work, service, family devotion and kindness, and he will be deeply missed.
The staff at Salmon Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve and care for Mr. Gerald W. Dunn, Sr. and his family.
