Gladys Wheeler

July 30, 1924 — March 6, 2013

Gladys Dew Wheeler, age 88, of Rome and a former long-time resident of the Everett Springs Community, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 6, 2013 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Wheeler was born on July 30, 1924, the daughter of the late Hammond and Mattie White Dew. Mrs. Wheeler had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County, attended school in Everett Springs and was a graduate of Armuchee High School. Mrs. Wheeler was of the Baptist Faith and for many years she was associated with Trend Mills. Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Wheeler in 2009, by a grandson, Lee Wheeler and by 7 brothers and sisters, Herman Dew, Larry Dew, Wayman Dew, Connie Dew, Hazel Mills, Pearl Miller and Tommie Horton.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Nina Wheeler of Rome; 1 granddaughter, Abby Gowan of Rome and 1 great-granddaughter, Amber Wheeler of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Gladys Dew Wheeler will be held this (Friday) afternoon, March 8, 2013 at 3 o'clock from the graveside of East View Cemetery with the Reverend Scott Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.

Mrs. Wheeler will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) afternoon from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m.
