Hazel Elaine Ables

March 6, 1918 — November 2, 2014

Hazel Elaine Burns Ables, age 96 of Calhoun passed away on Nov. 2, 2014. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a 1937 graduate of Oostanaula High School. Mrs. Ables was preceded in death by her husband Adair Ables; parents, Bonnie Fuller and Jether W. Burns; three brothers, J.W. Burns, Buren Burns and James M. "Malcolm" Burns.

She is survived by her two daughters Elaine (Charles) Evans and Pat (Mike) Courson; three sons, Richard Ables, Jerry (Linda) Ables, Tommy Ables; four grandchildren, Debbie (Mike) Smoker, Allen (Dawn) Ables, Rita Ables, Rod (Amber) Baker; nine great grandchildren, Erin Ables, Eli Ables, Alex Ables, Joshua Smoker, Lindsay Burkhalter, Hayden Baker, Rhiannon Baker, Maisy Baker, Alyssa Collins; one brother, Clifford (Joyce) Burns; her caregivers, Rose Marie, Sharon, Susan, Ashley and Amber.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Joshua Smoker, Mike Smoker, Lamar Burns, Eli Ables, Allen Ables, and Rod Baker. The honorary pallbearers will be the men of New Hope Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
