Ms. Helen Nail, born on June 28, 1964, in Centre, Alabama, passed away on July 20, 2025, at the age of 61 in Rome, Georgia. 

Helen dedicated nearly two decades of her life to serving in the housekeeping department at Cherokee County Nursing Home, where she not only enjoyed her work but also cherished the friendships and relationships she nurtured throughout the years.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jessie Abernathy (Johnathan), as well as her brothers, Danny Nail, David Nail, Richard Nail, and Jamie Nail. Helen is also survived by her sisters, Brenda Hasty and Rose Helms. The legacy of her love extends to her grandchildren, Gavan Harbin, Alana McElhaney, Ashlyn and Chloe Abernathy, along with several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. 

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Mary Gautney Nail, and her sisters; Betty Abernathy, Peggy Stone, and Bessie Awtrey. Her passing leaves a heartfelt void, but the impact she made during her lifetime will continue to resonate with those who knew and loved her.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Ms. Helen Nail will be held on July 24, 2025, at Longshore Cemetery in Collinsville, Alabama at 11:00 AM (central standard time) with Bobby Don Rogers officiating. A private family visitation will take place prior to the service.
