Henry David Lindsey

Mr. Henry David Lindsey, age 89, of Cedartown, GA, died Friday evening, January 17, 2014.

Mr. Lindsey was born on December 31, 1924, in Stilesboro, GA, the son of the late Lester Lindsey, Sr., and Ida Mae Dudley Lindsey. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Lindsey was a lifetime member of the American Legion and served as Commander for several years. He was a former member of the Polk County Board of Education for 16 years and served a number of times as Chairman. Mr. Lindsey was also a former member of the Cedartown Optimist Club and was a member of the Lake Creek Baptist Church. Prior to retirement he was owner and operator of Lindsey Septic Tank Service for a number of years and owner and operator of Lindsey Termite and Pest Control. Mr. Lindsey loved fishing, bird hunting and spending time with family. He was married to Frances Edwards Lindsey on May 18, 1952, and she preceded him in death on April 12, 1994. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Phyllis Lindsey Hughes, and three brothers, Lester, Jr., Robert and Ed Lindsey

Mr. Lindsey is survived by his children, Joann Lindsey of North Carolina, Gary (Kathy) Lindsey of Rockmart, Kay (Ray) Miles of Rome, Janice York of Rome, and David Lindsey of Bessemer, Al; his current wife, Jean Blake Lindsey; a brother, Alvin (Mary Ann) Lindsey of Cedartown. Nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild along with a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Lindsey will be held on Monday afternoon, January 20, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in the Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Bud Davis, Rev. Barry Snapp and Rev. Ray Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockmart, GA, with the Honor Guard of the Brewster Cleveland American Legion Post 86 conferring military graveside rites. Mr. Lindsey will lie-in-state Monday at the church from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, January 19, 2014, at Litesey's Funeral Home in Cedartown from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church on Monday by 12:30 p.m. and include Greg Lindsey, Dustin Lindsey, Jonathan Lindsey, Rocklyn Hughes, Josh Wigley and Richard Marchbanks.
