Janice Virginia Chapman

Janice Virginia Rakes Chapman, age 88, of Rome, passed away on Aug. 2, 2016. She was a longtime member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church, Young at Heart and the Ester Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rheba Mary Mayberry Rakes and Palmer Crawford Rakes; husband, Bobby Jim Chapman; sister, Lois Ann Rakes Wright; two brothers, James L. Rakes Sr. and Palmer Crawford Palmer Jr. She will be greatly missed by her family and all the lives that she touched.

She is survived by her daughter, Carlene (Randy) Parker; two grandsons, Josh (Katherine) Parker, Brandon (Dana) Parker; four great grandchildren, Jasper Parker, Hadley Parker, Lilly Parker, Mckinzie Parker and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be a Shorter Avenue Baptist Church on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 from Noon until 1:30 pm. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm at Oaknoll Memorial Garden.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International.
