Mrs. Jenny Smith Sills, age 63, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in her much beloved hometown of Rome, GA.
Mrs. Sills was born on January 13, 1962 in Macon, GA and was the chosen daughter of the late Mr. Paul Edward Smith and Mrs. Gerrell Andrews Smith. Jenny graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Berry College prior to dedicating her professional life to social work helping others. She served in positions at the Department of Family Services locally and with the Department of Labor here and in Carrollton, where her compassion and commitment to helping others shone brightly. Her warmth and kindness extended beyond her work; Jenny was a devoted wife and mother, cherishing every moment spent with her family. She also served as a willing volunteer with her church being known as the first to offer assistance when needed. Jenny loved the arts, and had a particular fondness for movies, theater, and music. She shared a lifelong passion for choral groups and served as a member of three choirs: Trinity United Methodist Church, Rome First Methodist Church, and the Three Rivers Singers. In addition to her musical talents, Jenny adored her pets, especially her beloved basset hounds. Travels to the beach were among her favorite vacations which also included visits to Washington, D.C. New York City, and Yellowstone National Park, where she created cherished memories with family and friends. Jenny will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, service, and joy will live on in the hearts of family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her beautiful journey on this earth.
Mrs. Sills is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas "Tom" W. Sills of Rome, GA; sons: Thomas "Paul" (Lindsey) Sills of Cave Spring, GA and Christopher W. Sills (Hector Rangel) of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren: Aspen, Colin and Cora Lee and several loving brother and sister in laws.
In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Sills will be cremated and a memorial service to celebrate and honor her life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Rome First United Methodist Church in the Wilder Center with Rev. Dr. Valerie Loner officiating. Immediately following the memorial service, family and friends will process from the church to Myrtle Hill Mausoleum for inurnment.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Rome First United Methodist Church in the Wilder Center on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the service begins at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or The American Heart Association in loving memory of Jenny.
