Jerry M. Pierce, age 66 of #22 East Drive, Rome, passed away on Monday afternoon, May 23rd, 2011 at a Rome hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Pierce was born on October 21st, 1944, the son of the late Marshall Lee Pierce and the late Lacy Gertrude Barnes Pierce. He had spent the great part of his life in Rome and was a graduate of Model High School. Mr. Pierce was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Army and prior to his retirement he was associated with Bekaert of Rome for 31 years. Mr. Pierce was a member of Cornerstone Church of Rome and was a member of Lindale Masonic Lodge #455 F&AM. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Survivor include his wife, Martha Early Pierce to whom he was married on May 31st, 1965; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Beth Carswell (Stephen) of Rome and Jody Pierce( Jose Albizures) of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Esther Ruth and Virginia Claire Carswell also survive as do 2 brothers, Marshall E. Pierce of Coosa and Arvil Ed Pierce of Garland, Texas. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service for Jerry M. Pierce will be held on Friday evening, May 27th, 2011 at 7 o'clock at the Cornerstone Church of Rome with Pastor Jody Hagerty officiating. Lindale Masonic Lodge #455 F&AM will conduct Masonic services following the memorial service at the church.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday afternoon from 4 until 7 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
