Judy Darlene McKellar, affectionately known as 'Dot', age 77, was born on November 5, 1947, in Rome, Georgia.
After a vibrant and fulfilling life, she passed away on August 22, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and cherished memories. Throughout her career, Judy made a significant impact in her profession. She worked for an employment agency in Georgia and later played a crucial role in establishing a branch of the business in Boise, Idaho, showcasing her innovative spirit and dedication to her work. Her talents extended beyond her career; she was a remarkable decorator and had an innate passion for interior design. Her stunning home was featured in local magazines on multiple occasions, reflecting her exquisite taste and artistic flair. Judy's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she went on to open her own home décor stores, Darlene's Nu-2-U and The Shabby House and Warehouse, both of which she successfully operated in Idaho and Washington State. Throughout her journey, she built lasting friendships, leaving a positive imprint on all who had the privilege to know her. In her personal life, Judy was devoted to her family. She married Devon Kasonovitch on June 27, 1969, marking the start of a beautiful chapter in her life. Later, she married Bruce Duncan McKellar on November 12, 1993, who was her partner until his passing in 2021. Judy found immense pride and joy in her daughter, Keely Christine Brailsford, whom she welcomed into the world on January 12, 1976. Tragically, Judy would later face the heartbreak of losing her daughter on June 24, 2025.
Judy's family will remember her fondly, including her siblings Dale (Susan) Farmer, Patsy Ford, Ronald (Sally) Farmer, and Debra Johnson, several loving nieces and nephews and good friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Keely Christine Brailsford, her husband Bruce Duncan McKellar, her brother Dwayne Jerome Farmer, and her sister Sherry Yvonne Farmer.
Judy Darlene McKellar leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
In keeping with the family's wishes, Judy was cremated and no formal services are being planned at this time.
