Karen Patricia "Kay" Miles

January 15, 1956 — September 16, 2021

Karen Patricia “Kay” Miles, age 65, of Rome, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, September 16, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born in Cedartown, GA, on January 15, 1956, daughter of the late Henry David Lindsey and Frances Edwards Lindsey. She was a 1972 graduate of Cedartown High School and a member of Access Church. Kay was the office manager at Brookdale Assisted Living of Rome where she was adored by the staff and residents. She met the love of her life, Ray Miles, in late 1972 and they were married October 29, 1973. Following their wedding, Kay and Ray lived in Dalton, GA, until 1984, moving to Titusville, Fl. There Kay worked in the school system as the baker in the lunchroom. In 1991, they moved to Rome, and she worked at various locations including Oaknoll Cemetery, Fred Talley Funeral Home and Oaknoll Chapel Funeral Home. Kay had an infectious smile and was always loving and giving to everyone around her. She was active in her church, serving mostly in children’s ministries. Most of the children she mentored are grown today with children of their own. Kay was an excellent cook, specializing in chicken and dressing and any dessert you may fancy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Lindsey, and two sisters, Phyllis Hughes, and Janice York.

Kay is survived by her husband, Ray Miles; two daughters and son-in-law, Felicia LaCraie Adams, and Leigh and Levon Ashford; four granddaughters, Kayla Adams, Carleigh Adams, Kelsey Robinson and Emma Robinson; three great-grandchildren whom she adored, Kayden Allen, Ky’Mari Allen and Brooklyn Robinson; a brother, David Lindsey. A nephew, Joshua Kyle Wigley, whom she raised for a number of years, along with other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends also survive.
