Mr. Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Dwight McClure, age of 64, of Rome, GA passed away suddenly Sunday night, June 22, 2025.

Kenny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed veteran. He was born on March 27, 1961, in Selmer, Tennessee, a son of the late Boyd Wayne McClure and Sadie Jean May McClure. Kenny was a proud career retired Lieutenant Weapons Officer with the United States Navy, Kenny enlisted in the military and ascended through the ranks, serving six tours on aircraft carriers. He held a special place in his heart for the VF142 Ghostriders and had a profound admiration for the F14 Tom Cat military planes. His experiences in the Navy not only shaped his career but also fostered deep bonds with his military crewmates, whom he cherished throughout his life.

After retiring from the Navy, Kenny continued to exemplify dedication and hard work as he transitioned to the civilian sector. He found a second career at Penske Trucking Company, where he also eventually retired. Throughout his professional journey, Kenny's commitment to service and excellence was evident.

Outside of his career, Kenny was a passionate family man. He loved spending time with his wife, Exer, whom he shared 25 wonderful years of marriage with, as well as his children and grandchildren. His family was the cornerstone of his existence, and he took great delight in every moment spent with them. In addition to his family, he was a loving pet owner, doting on his two dogs, Jerry Lee and Loki. Fishing provided him with a sense of peace and joy, serving as a perfect backdrop for quality time with loved ones.

Kenny's enthusiasm for sports, particularly his unwavering support for the Tennessee Volunteers, was a testament to his spirited nature. He was known for his selflessness, always helping others before prioritizing his own needs, embodying a true sense of community and compassion.

Kenny is survived by his beloved wife, Exer McClure of Rome, GA; son, Christopher Wayne McClure and his wife DeAnna of Sardis, TN; daughters, Ammie Leigh Twilley and Autumn Kathlene Twilley both of Cedartown; brothers, Tony McClure and his wife Denise, Bryan McClure; sister, Nancy Davis and her husband Johnny; grandchildren, Tracy Lynn McClure, Kenneth Lane, Heaven Lee, Whitney Carol, Kenneth Lee, Efraim Jones, Ethan Jones; a great grandchild, BayLen McClure, with another girl on the way. He also leaves behind his best friend, Mike Price and his ex-wife and great friend, Sheila Hopper.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Lee McClure; brothers, Michael King and Dennis McClure; and sister, Patricia King Farris.

In accordance with Kenny’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time.

Kenneth Dwight McClure will be remembered not only for his remarkable service to his country and profession but also for his profound love for his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A memento from his military days, IYAOYAS!

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Rome-Floyd Humane Society or any organization that benefits veterans in honor of Kenny.
