Donald Kevin
Summerville
Dec 17, 1970 — Jul 20, 2026
Rome
Kevin Summerville, age 55, passed away on July 20, 2026, following a courageous journey with cancer—a circumstance from which, in his own words, he emerged victorious. Kevin was born December 17, 1970, in Rome. Throughout his 55 years, Kevin was defined by his unwavering commitment to family, public service and his enduring passion for life.
Kevin's educational path began at Model Schools, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. A natural public servant, Kevin devoted his career to law enforcement, answering a lifelong dream. He began as a correctional officer, and later achieved the rank of OIC and Sergeant at Gordon County Jail. Continuing his ascent in public service, he attended Georgia Northwestern Law Enforcement Academy and served with distinction as a deputy sheriff with the Gordon County Sheriff's Office — an accomplishment that brought him great pride and fulfillment. His career later expanded into court services, where he maintained the integrity and steadfastness that defined his work. Kevin always saw himself as a steward for his community, and his service left a meaningful impact on those he served and worked alongside.
Beyond his work and his family, Kevin's interests painted a vivid portrait of his personality. He was an enthusiastic collector and admirer of guns and firearms, a passion often enjoyed quietly, as his family fondly remembers the day they discovered two new acquisitions in his safe. Western films, cars, Jeeps, and motorcycles filled his days with excitement and joy. Kevin's love of rock-and-roll music, particularly bands like AC/DC and Van Halen, left a mark on his household, as he introduced his family to the artists and sounds that so energized his spirit. He is remembered as a man who cherished his family deeply and regarded his relationships as the richest achievements of his life.
Kevin is survived by his loving spouse, Tracy Willingham; his children, D.J. Summerville (Brittany), Chance Minshew, and Ciera Dixon; as well as his grandchildren, Eli Ray and Violet Summerville, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. He is also survived by his father, Donald Summerville; his siblings, Kim Nasworthy (Bill) and Cheryl Clay and Schaun Gaddy (Denise).
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Smith Summerville, whose memory held a special place in his heart.
A visitation for Kevin will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Salmon Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service celebrating Kevin’s life and legacy will follow at 3:00 PM at the Salmon Funeral Home Chapel.
Kevin Summerville’s life was defined by service, resilience and a love for those who surrounded him. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the integrity with which he lived.
