Linda Joan Mckelvey

Mrs. Linda Joan McKelvey, age 68, of Rome, GA, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, in a local hospital.

Mrs. McKelvey was born in Centre, AL, on August 18, 1945, the daughter of the late Roy ManlyGarmany Sr. and Lillian Lois Knight GarmanyRedditt. She had been a resident of Floyd County since 1994, moving here from Florida. Prior to retirement in the early 1990's Mrs. McKelvey was associated with the State of Florida, managing a toll booth on the Florida Turnpike. She loved being with her family and working word search puzzles. Mrs. McKelvey also loved taking care of her dog, Precious. One of ten children, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jo Griffis and Janice Adkins, and a brother, Donald Garmany. A son, Terry McKelvey, preceded her in death in March of 2011, and her husband, Rayford McKelvey, to whom she was married on March 15, 1960, preceded her on June 8, 2001.

Mrs. McKelvey is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Patsy and Rudy Clark of Katy, TX, and Dana and Tommy Bogardus of Rome, seven grandchildren, Ross (Kat) Clark, Mandy McKelvey, Lindsey (Ricky) Vermillion, Courtney (Tommy) Jones, Briana Bogardus, Audrey McKelvey and Nathan Bogardus; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; six siblings, Roy Garmany, Diann Hart, Judy Rice, Johnny Garmany, Tony Garmany and Billy Garmany; a special nephew, Byron Free. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. McKelvey will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Cater officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery in Centre, AL.

Mrs. McKelvey will remain in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 1:30 and include Ross Clark, Ricky Vermillion, Tommy Jones, Nathan Bogardus, Colton Garmany and Jeremy Free.
