Mrs. Lois Crumley, age 96, of Rome, passed away on Friday evening, January 13, 2017, in a local health care facility.
Mrs. Crumley was born in Rome, on January 10, 1921, the daughter of the late Thomas Leroy Wells and Emma Silvers Wells. She moved to Dalton an early age. Mrs. Crumley spent the greater part of her life in Rome and Floyd County. Mrs. Crumley was married in the late 1930's to William Crumley and he preceded her in death in August of 2011. She along with her husband operated a couple of businesses in Rome and Floyd County. Mrs. Crumley spent some time working for Floyd Medical Center and Redmond Regional Hospital and then in her later years she was an accomplished seamstress. Mrs. Crumley was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Crumley is survived by a son, William Van Crumley of Rome; one brother and sister-in-law, James "Billy" and Florence Wells of Dalton, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Crumley will be held on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Crumley will remain at Salmon Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
