Lois Overby Griffith Newton

Mrs. Lois Overby Griffith Newton, age 82, of Acworth, GA, a former resident of Rome, GA, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021, in Marietta, GA.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Newton was born February 15, 1939, daughter of the late Luther Newell Overby and Annie Ruth Parson Overby. She was a graduate of Pepperell High School and a member of The Church of God. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Newton had worked for Walmart, serving as manager. She enjoyed traveling with her family, going on cruises, shopping, cooking and interior decorating.

Mrs. Newton is survived by her husband, Harold Newton, whom she married July 30, 1994; two daughters and son-in-law, Regina Moody of Canton, GA, and Renae and Scott Daws of Kennesaw; four grandchildren, Taylor Moody, Hunter Moody, Lauren Daws and Blake Daws; two brothers, Raymond Overby and Harold Overby, both of Rome; step-son, David Newton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Newton will be Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the Alvis Miller Memorial Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Chaplain Marvin Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Newton’s family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Billy Moody, Hunter Moody, Scott Daws, Scott Lemon and Mark Dellorto.
