Lonnie Eugene Pilcher

Lonnie Eugene Pilcher, age 63 of Shannon, GA, passed away on Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2014 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.

Lonnie was born in Floyd County, GA, on September 4, 1950, the son of the late Kenneth Archie Pilcher and the late Elizabeth Sizemore Pilcher. He had spent his entire life in Rome and was a 1970 graduate of Model High School. Lonnie served in the National Guard for 6 years and was a member of the Rush Chapel United Methodist Church. For a number of years he was associated with the Southeast Gas Terminal. Lonnie loved fishing and tennis, was a basketball coach and referee and was a softball umpire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Nelson on March 14, 2013.

Lonnie is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronnie Pilcher of Chattanooga, TN. and Kent and Joy Pilcher of Shannon; two sisters, Sharon Landers of Villa Rica, GA. and Brenda Phillips of Shannon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Lonnie Eugene Pilcher will be held on Tuesday afternoon, June 3, 2014 at 2 o'clock at the Rush Chapel United Methodist Church. He will be carried to the church on Tuesday to lay in-state from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Rush Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Lonnie will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening, June 2, 2014 from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church on Tuesday by 1:30 p.m. and include Josh Pilcher, Tyler Rich, Jeremy Pilcher, Matthew Pilcher, Phillip Nelson and Seth Laney.
