Margaret L. Murphy, age 85, of Shannon, Georgia, passed away on Saturday evening, September 15th, 2012 at the residence.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Murphy was born on April 4th, 1927, the daughter of the late Malcolm H. and Ozella Byars Ross. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Murphy was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Boatwright on June 23rd, 2006. Mrs. Murphy was married to Patrick Harvey Murphy who preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Murphy of Shannon; 4 grandchildren, Carmen Helms, Chris Boatwright, Kari Murphy and Ronnie Murphy, Jr.; 4 great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Helms, Murphy Helms, Lyric and Hendric Murphy; 2 brothers, Robert Dudley Ross of Rome and Albert Dean Ross of Litha Springs, Georgia. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Margaret L. Murphy will be held on Tuesday afternoon, September 18th, 2012 at 2 o'clock at the graveside of the Blue Pond Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Dale Byars officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Blue Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. For those attending the graveside services for Mrs. Murphy please meet at the graveside on Tuesday afternoon by 1:45 p.m.

Mrs. Murphy will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
