Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Kilgore, age 69, of Kingston, GA, passed away on Monday afternoon, March 27, 2017, in a local hospital.

Mary Elizabeth was born in Rome, GA, on June 4, 1947, a daughter of the late James Roy Morgan and Jessie Louise Sitton Morgan. She was a devoted member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved helping others. Mary Elizabeth retired from East Rome Walmart in 2016 following 28 years of service with them. She enjoyed going shopping and simply adored her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Charles Franklin Kilgore, a sister, Thelma Maddox, and a brother, Donald Morgan.

Mary Elizabeth is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Andy and Donna Kilgore, Alan and Manuela Kilgore and Erik Davenport, all of Kingston; five grandchildren, Adan, Andy, Brady, Briella and Ethan; one sister, Joann Rogers, of Kingston.

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Branton officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mary Elizabeth will be carried to the church on Wednesday to lie in-state from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Family and friends will gather at the Salmon Funeral Home, 2516 New Calhoun Highway, Rome, GA, 30161, for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church on Wednesday by 1:30 p.m. and include Jackie Gibbs, Darrell Womack, Michael Maddox and Adan Maddox.
