Mr. Mitchel Lee Davis, age 79, of Rome, GA, passed away at his residence on Monday evening, November 8, 2021.
A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mr. Davis was born August 15, 1942, son of the late General Alonzo Davis and Margaret Ruth Harrell Davis. He had lived all of his life in Rome and was a graduate of Rome High School. Mr. Davis retired from Lockheed-Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, GA after 18 years of service. He loved reading books and was an accomplished furniture builder, especially making bookcases for his collection of books. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Watson.
Mr. Davis is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Talena and Chris Adams, and Kayla and Ryan Baker, all of Rome; a son, Jason Davis of Rome; five grandchildren, Shyra Burnette, Raymond Baker, Aaron Cole Reeves, Lily Reeves and Libby Reeves; two brothers, Norman Davis and Scott Davis, both of Rome. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.
In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Davis will be cremated, and no formal service is planned at this time.
