Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Nathaniel Morgan, known to many as Nate or Nathan, passed away on September 10, 2026, at Kennestone Hospital. He was born on October 30, 2007, also at Kennestone Hospital. His life was marked by a deep curiosity, a thoughtful spirit and a genuine gentleness that touched those around him.

Nathaniel loved learning and approached the world with an inquisitive, self-directed mind. He found joy in exploring subjects that sparked his imagination and intellect. Science held a special place in his heart, along with rocks, astrology, animals and marine biology. These interests were not passing hobbies, but reflections of a young man who wanted to understand the world in all its complexity and wonder.

That love of discovery showed itself early. In fourth grade, Nathaniel regularly completed his schoolwork ahead of schedule and spent that extra time with his teacher researching answers and working on small research projects. It was a memory that captured his character well: he was eager to know more, motivated from within and happiest when he was learning something new.

Outside of his studies, Nathaniel enjoyed playing video games, especially Destiny. He also treasured time spent with children and animals, and those moments reflected the kindness and patience that were so natural to him. He hated fighting and that simple truth spoke volumes about his peaceful nature. He carried himself with a spirit that valued understanding over conflict and curiosity over judgment.

Nathaniel is survived by his loving mother, Chastity Morgan; his siblings, Kellin Gray, Hunter Mills, Bryson Boswell, and Ayda Boswell; his grandparents, Tim Morgan and Jennifer Morgan; his uncles, Jayme Morgan and Nick Morgan and many other loving family members and friends. He will be remembered with enduring love by his family, who carry forward the memory of his bright mind, his tender heart and the many ways he brought warmth to their lives.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home, 2516 New Calhoun Hwy NE, Rome, Georgia 30161. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Salmon Funeral Home in the chapel.

Nathaniel’s life, though brief, was filled with intelligence, wonder, and compassion. He will be remembered for the questions he asked, the things he loved to learn, and the calm, caring presence he shared with others. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, The family respectfully asks that memorial donations be made to Silver Lining of Hope in honor and memory Nate. You may use the link to make donations online and learn more about this incredible non-profit. https://www.silverliningofhope.com/
