Paul Raymond Kentner

Paul R. "George" Kentner, age 75, of the Old Dalton Road, Rome, GA, died Tuesday evening, February 28, 2012, at a Rome hospital.

Mr. Kentner was born on July 8, 1936, in Montgomery County, TN, the son of the late Sandy Kentner and Agnes Akins Kentner. Mr. Kentner attended Central School in Cunningham, TN. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since 2002, moving here from Clarksville, TN, and was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church of Rome. For 22 years Mr. Kentner was associated with Frosty Morn Meat Company in Clarksville, TN and prior to his retirement was associated with Trane Heating and Air Conditioning.

Mr. Kentner is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Catherine Lyle Kentner, to whom he was married on March 3, 1956; one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Darrell Everett of Rome; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Robbin Kentner of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Tony and Randy Fennell, and Jennifer and Michelle; one special great-grandson, Tyler Paul Fennell; a sister, Dorothy F. Kennedy of Clarksville; a brother, David Kentner of Clarksville. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Paul R "George" Kentner will be held on Saturday afternoon, March 3, 2012, at 2:00 o'clock in the Pisgah Baptist Church, Rome, GA, with Dr. Jerry Dudley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome. Mr. Kentner will lie in-state at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 o'clock until the funeral hour.

Mr. Kentner will remain in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home, Rome, GA, (706-291-9472) where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church on Saturday by 1:30 p.m. and include Tony and Randy Fennell, Eddie Anderson, Gene Gilbreath, Freddie Clark, Chad Everett and Reg Ozment.
