Mrs. Sara Lee Oswalt Ritchey, age 88, of #8 Stonegable Drive, NW, Rome passed away on Monday morning, January 21, 2013, in a Rome hospital.

A native of Rome, Georgia, Mrs. Oswalt-Ritchey was born on August 23rd, 1924, the daughter of the late Herbert Alexander McClain and the late Sarah Rachel Irvine McClain. Mrs. Oswalt-Ritchey was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rome and for several years Mrs. Oswalt-Ritchey and her first husband the late Curtis William Oswalt owned and operated the Oakhurst Motel and Ozzie's Steak House of Rome. Mrs. Oswalt-Ritchey was an avid golfer and loved to travel. She served as a volunteer at Redmond Regional Medical Center for many years. Mrs. Oswalt-Ritchey was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Curtis William Oswalt in August of 1968. On November 10th, 1979 Mrs. Oswalt-Ritchey was married to Arthur B. Ritchey who preceded her in death on July 29th, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Alexander McClain, Jr. and a sister, Ruth Virginia McClain.

Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Oswalt Loyd Elder of Jonesboro, GA. and Sarah Ann Oswalt Brierley and her husband, Raymond of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Randolph and Joyce Oswalt of Rome; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren also survive as do 2 sisters, Margaret Fulton of Summerville, GA. and Eugenia Smith (Charles) of Americus, GA.; 1 step-daughter, Ellen Vogel of Athens, GA.; 1 step-son, John Arthur Ritchey of Galesville, Ala. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Lee Oswalt Ritchey will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon, January 23, 2013, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. David Campbell and Dr. Wayne Hopper officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this (Wednesday) afternoon from 1 o'clock until the funeral hour.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Bob Brierley, Robert and Greg Fulton, Austin Gore, Michael Oswalt and Trey Elder.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 606 Turner McCall Blvd. SW, Rome, Ga. 30165.
