Susan Kiser Bohanan, born April 2, 1952, in Rome, Georgia, passed away on August 14, 2026, in her hometown of Rome. She was known for her steadfast presence, dedication to family, and a quiet, comforting spirit that touched all who knew her.

Susan was the cherished daughter of Woodrow and Nellie Kiser, both of whom preceded her in death. From her earliest years, Susan created fond memories with her family, most notably during their regular summer trips to Daytona Beach. These excursions with her loved ones were a treasured tradition and her affinity for the ocean remained with her throughout her life.

A graduate of Model High School, Susan applied herself to her studies before embarking on a career in public service. She devoted a number of years as a correctional officer at the Rome Diversion Center, demonstrating a steady commitment to her vocation and a resolute work ethic.

In her personal life, Susan was remembered for being a homebody, especially later in life. She found peace in the comfort of her own surroundings and was happiest when at home. Earlier in her life, she enjoyed reading—a pastime that offered her moments of reflection and joy. Yet it was the serenity of the beach and family vacations that brought her enduring happiness and remained a lasting theme among her fondest recollections.

Susan’s life was rooted in deep familial connections. She is survived by her son, Wilson Holmes and his wife, Kimberly of Rome; her beloved grandchildren: Matthew (Charlotte) Shepard, Allyson Holmes, Andrew (Chandler) Holmes; great- grand daughter, Carterann Holmes all of Rome, GA; her sister, Nancy (John) Hogue; her brother, Tom Kiser; as well as Brian, Sid, and Martine, all of whom held special roles within her extended circle of nieces, nephews, and in-laws. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her loving spouse, John Eric 'Ric' Bohanan, whose memory she carried with her; and her two dogs, Cosmo and Skynard.

Through her gentleness, her devotion to kin, and the simple pleasures she cherished, Susan Kiser Bohanan leaves behind a legacy of steadfast love and lifelong bonds. Those who were part of her journey will remember her strength, her quiet joy for home and beach, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family and friends.

In accordance with Mrs. Bohanan's wishes, she will be cremated and at this time there are no services.
