Sylvia Lively Barton

Our precious Sylvia Sue Lively Barton entered her Heavenly Home on March 17, 2023 at the age of 88. 

Mrs. Barton was the daughter of the late Buford “BO” and Vivian Jackson Lively. She was born on September 27th, 1934, the eldest of the Livelys’ 10 children. Sylvia grew up in Waco, Ga, and graduated from Waco School. 

On July 21st, 1951, she married her beloved Donald Barton and together they had 5 children, 9 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Barton retired from the Floyd County Health Department after 27 years of service. 

She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family with her entire being, and relied on her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ to carry her through many difficult times. 

Even in her twilight years, when many of her memories had faded, she could be heard singing every word to the old hymns and reciting scripture effortlessly. She ran with perseverance the race set before her and finished well. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Barton,
sons David Barton and Doug Barton, grandson, Anthony Hai Dang Barton, sister, Marilyn Mullins, and son-in-law, Mike Kelley.

Surviving family includes: 

Children - Diane Carver (Randall), Donna Kelley-Simons (Doug) and Dorian “Dody” Barton (Hong).

Grandchildren - Amber Maxwell (Charles), Ashley Cooke (Collin), Whitney Stevison (Todd), Brett Barton (Lexi), Alisha Coleman (Chris), Bethany Allison (Scooter), Paige Rush (Brandon), Naomi Barton, & Courtney Fekete (Jake).

Siblings - Wanda Harrison, Gloria Eberhart, Donnie Lively (Barbara Jean), Ronnie Lively (Donna), Joe Lively (Eloise), Spencer Lively (Judy), Connie Alinikoff (Artie), Mike Lively (Becky).

Grateful thanks are extended for the outstanding care of Tapestry Hospice and Riverwood Memory Care teams. The day - after - day committed care of our beloved one was was so appreciated.

Funeral services for Sylvia will be held Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Sylvia’s family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2023, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM.
