Thomas B Daniel

Thomas Burton Daniel, Jr., 91 passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at his residence after a brief illness.

Mr. Daniel was born in Floyd County on August 2, 1932. He was the son of the late Thomas Burton Daniel, Sr. and Lora Grace Bradfield Daniel. He worked for 38 years at the General Electric Facility here in Floyd County before retiring in 1994. After his retirement, he enjoyed his time at his lake property, traveling with his wife, being outside piddling and spending as much time as he could with his family. He was so very proud of his family and would tell anyone that he saw about them. They were his pride and joy. Thomas was a small man in stature but made up for it with his huge love for his family and a smile for all he met. He was loved by all who knew him.

Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Melba Jo Hawkins Daniel; daughter, Teresa Yvonne Daniel Whitlock and her husband Fred; grand daughter, Shanda Whitlock Douglas and her husband Chris; grandson, Jason Whitlock and his wife Michelle; six great grandchildren, Grace Douglas (T.J. Philmon), Elizabeth Douglas, Lucas Whitlock, Adalei Whitlock, Marlee Whitlock and Harper Whitlock. He was looking forward to be a great, great grandfather to baby-girl Philmon due in January.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home with Rev. Micah Pritchett officiating. Joy Shirley will be the vocalist. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 1:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Whitlock, Jason Whitlock, Chris Douglas and William Carman.
