Mr. Thomas Edward Wooten, age 85, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2017, following a brief illness.
Tom was born in Vina, AL, on March 10, 1932, son of the late Henry Elbert Wooten and Shellie Lou Scott Wooten. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for over 40 years and was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church, where he was a deacon Emeritus. Prior to retirement, Tom was the owner and operator of Wooten Forklift Service. Tom loved fishing and fixing things, but mostly spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifton Wooten, and two sisters, Eloise Paden and Mary Emerson.
Tom is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Mary Elizabeth Oliver Wooten, whom he married on September 29, 1951; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gary Bumpass, of Houston, TX, and Pam and Ken Morrow, of Suwanee, GA; four grandsons and their wives, Jason and Becky Morrow, Joshua and Vicki Morrow, Johnny Bumpass, and Justin and Kristin Bumpass; one sister, Doris Williams; two brothers, Cluston Wooten and Roy Lee Wooten. Eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.
The service will be held on Saturday afternoon, December 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Salmon Funeral Home with visitation immediately following.
On Sunday, December 10th, Tom will be carried to Pilot Hill Baptist Church in Vina, AL, for visitation and an interment service at 2:00 p.m. CST.
The family requests memorial contributions may be made in Toms memory to Woodlawn Baptist Church or your favorite charity.
